Frequently Asked Questions About Preschool:
Field Trips: We continue to explore our science based theme through our field trips. This is a great time for families to come together and build great friendships.
An Adventure in Seussland:
We have so much fun at our annual family fun event. This a Dr. Seuss inspired carnival for all our preschoolers and their family. We love to see all of our alumni families join in the fun!
Math: Each week the students will work in small groups playing math games with their teacher or parent helpers. Math lessons also help the students explore our monthly themes through numbers, shapes, colors, and patterns.
Circle Time: We pledge allegiance to our flag, change the date on the calendar and take a look at the weather. We work on learning the days of the week and months of the year. We also review the letters of the month.
Science: We have science basted themes that we explore for three to four weeks. We engage our students with books, songs, graphs, and activities. We believe in hands on learning and exploration.
Centers: The students have the freedom to rotate through several stations using magnifying glasses, tweezers, scales, flashlights and other items to dissect and explore theme related items. During this time they also learn fine and gross motor skills as well as cooperation and interaction with their peers.
Art: Our arts and crafts teach cutting, gluing, following directions, creativity with art materials and a sense of pride!
Each day they can freely choose to explore our themes through our open art center.
Letter Detective: Students bring a item from home that starts with the one of the "Letters of the Month" and place it into the Letter detective box. The student gives clues to the rest of the class. Everyone loves to guess what is in the box. Speaking in front of a group can be challenging. This is a great opportunity to practice.
Reading: We believe reading is very important. Throughout the day we read several books to the students and give them a chance to choose books to read on their own.
Writing: We teach the students on an individual basis. We encourage proper letter formation and work hard to write their own name!!
Songs: Each day we sing, dance, or use musical instruments to theme related songs and poems. This proves to be the most entertaining part of the day!!!
Outside Play: Our school has a wonderful playground that we use daily, weather permitting. We also enjoy a short snack time together. We use this time to teach students to wash their hands and to say please and thank you.
